At the end of March 2012, the beta version of AnnoDrenthe.nu was launched. This is a website and mobile app to time travel the province of Drenthe.
The most notorious new functionality of the website (that builds upon 7scenes technology) is the use of historical maps. Seamlessly you can travel back in time to 1638. Especially when the browser is used in full screen modus, this is a true adventure (click in the upper right hand corner to unleash this feature), but on a smartphone too you can swap maps easily, thanks to an optimized use of tiling. New maps will probably added in the future.
Another thing that clearly shows from the map material is the quality of topographicals maps over Google Maps. Just go back to e.g. Grollo in 1940 (or 1900) to see the effect.
