Build a speaker for your mobile phone or iPod
Fabschool Kids is for curious children aged 10 to 12 who like to tinker, design fashion or work with computers and electronics. On February 13th we will start the workshop series by building a DIY (do-it-yourself) speaker.
Curiosity, creativity and technology - that's what Fabschool Kids is all about. You learn by making and will be surprised by everything you are able to do. The workshops takes place around Fablab Amsterdam. This is a high-tech production place where everyone can turn simple ideas into prototypes, using e.g. a laser cutter, sticker cutter, sewing machine, shopbot or a soldering iron. The workshops are led by designers and artists who have extensive experience in working with children and young people.

Background information for parents
Fabschool kids is a 'light' version of the Fabschool. This school enables you to learn by making. With Fabschool Kids, we are structurally making the Labs accessible for young people for the first time. Creativity, technology and entrepreneurship are key factors in the program. We work with current social issues and trends that reflect the world of young people. They develop '21st century skills'; skills that match with our current society. For example, they will work on their problem solving skills. How are problems translated in executable ideas? And how can they be realised technically?
Fabschool Kids is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts).
