Meet our lasercutter, a machine that cuts the most delicate forms and shapes in a broad variety of materials. Whether you go for a tight sleeve for your laptop or a photo portrait made of wood, the laser cutter is ready to go. We also prsent the vinyl cutter, that can create your own designed stickers.
Program
The course begins with a brief introduction about the FabLab and the principles of digital fabrication. We will explain briefly what the capabilities of the lasercutter are, such as cutting and engraving. And we will show you some examples of work done on the lasercutter. Then you start with your own design. You make a drawing and then prepare it for printing on the laser cutter. Both digital or analog drawings along are OK as a basis. Analog drawings will be digitized and prepared. Of course you can also use one of our example-drawings. Together we will check your drawing and choose a material, such as MDF, acrylic, cardboard, paper or foam. Then you will learn how to set the machine for your equipment and you're ready to print your drawing. Off course, you take your product home.
What to bring?
Bring your own laptop to the workshop. Make sure you have installed a vector based drawing program (such as Illustrator, Autocad, Blender or Sketchup) on your laptop. Prior knowledge about these drawing programs is not required. We will teach you the basics of making a sketch. Of course it is possible to bring your own drawings, but we also have examples ready for you.
