Meet the Fablab: the Shopbot
 (15/6)

Meet our Shopbot: a large milling machine that enables you to make anything from furniture to large scale models or carvings. With the machine you can cut and carve wood, plastic, styrofoam and many more materials. Whether you want to make your own chairs, skateboard or wooden portraits: the Shopbot makes it possible!

Program

Prior knowledge about the Fablab or the machines is not necessary for this workshop. Everybody can participate. The workshop begins with a brief introduction about the Fablab and the principles of digital fabrication. Next, you will get information about the possibilities the machine offers and we will show you some examples of work made with the Shopbot. Then we will start with the actual production of your design, by preparing your drawing and turning it into a 'cut sheet'. This cut sheet is the print job that is readable for the Shopbot. When making this cut sheet, you will learn how to cut shapes or make engravings. Finally, you will actually create your product, which you will take home at the end of the workshop.

What to bring?

Bring your own laptop to the workshop. Make sure you have installed a vector based drawing program (such as Illustrator, Autocad, Blender or Sketchup) on your laptop. Prior knowledge about these drawing programs is not required. We will teach you the basics of making a sketch. Of course it is possible to bring your own drawings, but we also have examples ready for you.

Cost

The price for this workshop is 75 Euro including VAT and equipment. You can pay this amount at the start of the workshop (PIN). Students get a 30% discount.
