Nerds on Stage is a festival for everyone who is addicted to technology, innovation, gadgets and science. The event revolves around hitech fashion and food, gaming, robots, synthetic biology, smart textiles, brain computer interfaces, augmented reality, sensors, cradle to cradle, electronic music and much more. During the night you can also join the Urban Mining sessions, which are part of our project FairPhone.
Our phones contain over 30 different minerals. When a mobile phone is not working and discarded, these raw materials are lost, whilst they are easy to recycle. Sustainable use of mobile phones thus begins with recycling. Or with 'Urban Mining', the alternative way of extracting raw materials like gold, coltan, silver or iridium. In our workshop you will learn all the skills you need to demolish your old mobile phone.
