About Local Color

Currently, in the textiles industry garments are mostly dyed using chemical colours. We think it’s possible to not only dye textiles naturally, but also to put in place a city wide circular closed loop system to do so. Collectively, as a city, we will grow plants that produce natural colours, and create dyes using both ancient techniques and innovations and knowledge already present in the TextileLab.

Want to participate in this experiment? Check out the first Local Color paint garden on the Marineterrein, take some seedlings home during a Waag event, or participate in the natural paint workshops we are organising at the Waag.
