In the Code for NL project Waag organised scholarships for developers in government bodies and related organisations to work on practical solutions for social problems.

Governments face enormous challenges today. Citizens require more (and better) information and want to use innovative services. With Code for NL, the Netherlands joined a global network of social innovators who help to transform their own community by using technology to improve government and promote citizen involvement.

These technologists work closely with all stakeholders on a problem. They involve citizens, civil society organizations and civil servants to use technology in a practical way.

Waag helped to create and implement a programme within organisations, as a follow-up to the Code for Europe project. Afterwards, a foundation Code for NL was established, the Dutch network of open-source developers and designers who work together on the digital government. The aim is the successful digital transformation of municipalities, other governmental organisations and society as a whole.

Code for NL is a partner in the international 'Code for All' programme and was supported by the Fund Creative Industries NL.
