Maakschap Amsterdam: Sustainable & Circular
In recent years, Waag Futurelab, Het Hout- en Meubileringscollege, and Pakhuis de Zwijger have collaborated to strengthen the visibility and position of makers and crafstpeople in Amsterdam. This was done as part of the European research and innovation project Centrinno. One of the main results of this project is the creation of Maakschap Amsterdam, a dynamic network of more than a 100 makers who come together to share knowledge, increase visibility and explore circular working in practice.
To secure the future of this network, the project ‘Maakschap Amsterdam: Sustainable & Circular’ has been developed. This project aims to strengthen and make the network of Maakschap Amsterdam more future-proof and to activate and support makers in the field of circularity. By doing so, Maakschap wants to show how a city can be a stimulating environment for makers and offer makers tools to work circularly in their business operations, thus contributing to the circular transition of the Amsterdam municipality. This includes reuse, repair, local production and developing innovative solutions.
Strengthening the network of makers is crucial for their sustainability and role in the city. By meeting regularly, makers can share knowledge, use machines together and make connections with other makers and communities. Maakschap is researching ways to make the network sustainable through knowledge sharing, collaboration and active involvement of makers themselves.
