For an exhibit at the expo of nominees for the Rotterdam Designprize at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in 2011, the Open Design Lab of Waag made a collection of quotes and instructions about Open Design. Waag was nominated for the Rotterdam Designprize by the scouts Ginette Blom and Jacqueline Moors. The exhibition was used again at the Incubate Festival in Tilburg, where it was part of the Open Source exhibition.

The exhibit for the exposition consisted of 11 by 11 rows of black & white note blocks, with 45 blocks containing quotes from the book 'Open Design Now' that was published earlier in 2011, and 76 blocks with instructions from projects like the Open Design Contest, Instructables Restaurant, Fairphone and Fablab Amsterdam.

Normally you can't touch anything in a museum. This expo invited you to tear off the quotes and instructions you like and take them with you, to make your own Open Design publication! The exhibit was designed in such a way that it could be re-used for other occasions to promote Open Design.

Design is undergoing a revolution. Technology is empowering more people to create and disseminate designs, and professionals and enthusiasts are using it to share their work with the world. Open Design is changing everything from furniture to how designers make a living. By publishing your designs under a Creative Commons license, you can share them with the world under your own conditions. The exhibit is almost completely made under a CC-license BY-SA-NC, which means that you can re-use the material if you attribute, share alike and do so non-commercially.

You can download the exhibit here as a gigantic poster (2,3 x 2,3 meter) or as a regular pdf booklet.
