Ban the destruction of unsold textiles and electronics

One of Europe's largest waste stream consists of goods that are being destroyed because they are unsold. This includes textiles and electronics. Together with 45 European organisations, Waag argues that this must be stopped immediately. On the initiative of Green Europe, we signed an open letter to the European Parliament.

Waag and Reflow

Within the European Reflow project, Waag conducted research into waste streams in the city - in Amsterdam, we specifically focused on textiles. We discovered not only that unsold textiles are often destroyed, but also that textiles that should actually be recycled often end up being burned anyway. With all the environmental consequences this entails, we believe overproduction and destruction of goods must stop.
