Both Frank Kresin (research director) and Marleen Stikker (founder) of Waag will attend the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, an international event on the smart cities' calendar bringing together over 400 cities around the world, more than 200 companies, 400 speakers and the leading institutions and experts in urban transformation. The event is held from 18-20 November, hosted by Fira Barcelona.
The Smart City Expo World Congress program features some of the most innovative speakers on urban technology. Besides the congress it also boasts an exhibition where technology solutions will be showcases in the 2,000 mqs smart city mock-up.

Nowadays architecture, urban planning, public policy, art, social and anthropological research, technology, innovation, economics and many other disciplines are combined to create a much more interdisciplinary approach to the study and the management of cities. Urban labs are one of the spaces where this experimentation is taking place, and they are being implemented already in many cities around the globe.
