The Netherlands is renowned for its innovation in watertechnology: from creating and protecting land to generating energy from water. With the climate crisis, the Netherlands faces new challenges. Climate adaptation is a societal transition that requires systemic change. Which means that technological innovation alone is not enough. To make the built environment climate-resilient, social innovation is just as important. But this requires a knowledge base that goes beyond technological expertise.
Waag Futurelab is working with STOWA to create the broader knowledge base that is needed to achieve a climate resilient water system. Through three interactive and inspiring events with people working at waterschappen artists, designers and other experts, we are creating a way to incorporate diverse forms of knowledge into the development of water management and policy. The programme is curated in collaboration with a network of ambassadors: frontrunners within the water sector who bring this broader perspective back into their own organisations and carry it forward into the field. The knowledge that is produced will be made available via audio and a syllabus to those who are interested.
