Across Amsterdam, residents are conducting research into their local areas and collaborating with researchers and policymakers. But how do you find one another, and how do you work together effectively to tackle urban challenges?

The eXtreme Citizen Science Hub Amsterdam project connects citizen science initiatives in Amsterdam and fosters collaboration between communities, higher education institutions and policymakers. This is achieved through training, research, ethical governance and activities in and for the city.

By embedding citizen science in education, policy and urban development, the hub creates a sustainable knowledge network that strengthens diverse communities, promotes social justice and contributes to sustainable urban transformation.

Citizen Science Academy

Waag Futurelab develops a Citizen Science Academy in collaboration with partners. This academy provides students, educators, researchers and citizen scientists state-of-the-art skills, tools and hands-on experience, thereby facilitating meaningful, inclusive and reciprocal collaborations. In addition to offering general courses and training programmes based on existing resources, the academy will specialise in urban areas and inclusive collaborations with underrepresented groups.
