Mobiles for Good Challenge
The Mobiles for Good Challenge was an initiative of the Vodafone Foundation in cooperation with Waag to discover and develop new mobile applications that solve social issues. The winners received a cash prize and participated in an intensive bootcamp to develop their products.
Short history
The first Mobiles for Good Challenge was held in 2012. At the second edition of 2013, a record number of 209 entries were counted. Both editions focused on mHealth. During the Emerce eHealth convention, the three winners of 2013 were announced: PebbleMED, CareRate and Mobiles for Mothers.
In 2014 the challenge was widened to social entrepreneurship and social applications in general, that use mobile technology for smart solutions for society. The following six winners emerged at this occassion: WindTales, Heppee, HomeMade Productions, Into D’mentia Nederland, OWise and TraumaGameplay. These initiatives were supported with 40.000 euro each to realize their applications. In 2015, the fourth and final edition brought six winning social entrepreneurs, that won 30.000 euro each: Fello, GoOV, LINKX, Jobtease, Mentelity and Puffer.
