Margherita Soldati

Margherita SoldatiConcept Developer

Margherita Soldati is a concept developer at Waag, where she mentors artists involved in both European and National projects. Her interest focuses on the intersection of art and science, with a strong emphasis on research grounded in material and sensory practices. Previously, she worked at the Textile Lab, translating concepts into tangible works through material research and contributing to projects such as Reflow, Open Next, Better Factory, VOJEXT, and Fabricademy. Her self-growing crystal gown, produced at the Textile Lab, was exhibited at De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam as part of the In de Maak exhibition.

In addition to Waag, Margherita is an artist, curator and educator exploring the intersection of food, health and material perception, with a focus on allergies, immunity and microbial life. Through sculptural works, performances and installations, she investigates food systems, contamination and resilience, challenging increasing sterility in our environments. Her participatory art practice engages communities and scientific research. Margherita co-founded female collectives Absurd Beings and Burning Steps. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Artistic Research at KABK Den Haag.

Margherita also works on a broad range of other independent projects through her own studio where she fulfills the role of designer, curator and teacher.
